Magnolia Sieboldii is also known as Oyama Magnolia or Siebold's Magnolia. Magnolia is a deciduous flowering shrub or small tree with very attractive creamy white flowers with pink and yellow centres.  The flowers are lightly fragrant with a scent of delicate spices. Magnolia Sieboldii is often used as small to medium sized ornamental tree. Magnolia Sieboldii blooms bears its striking flowers in summer rather than the more common spring flowering magnolias. Glossy deep green leaves measuring 15 centimetres in length set off Magnolia Sieboldii’s attractive creamy white flowers. These flowers have bright pink and yellow stamens at the centre with a light spicy fragrance. Egg-shaped buds appear in the summer rather than early spring when most magnolias tend to bloom.  Oyama Magnolia’s flowers measure ten centimetres in diameter. They are cup-shaped, nod in the breeze and give a lot of 3D texture to a planting arrangement. These flowers will last from summer through to the end of September attracting all manner of pollinators.

How Hardy Is Magnolia Sieboldii?
Magnolia Sieboldii is one of the toughest magnolias you can buy. It is hardy across the UK withstanding frosts and snow provided its roots are not waterlogged.

How To Use Magnolia Sieboldii
Place Siebold's Magnolia at the back of the flower bed to create a toned down backdrop that accentuates bright summer bedding plants and the vast array of summer colours. Oyama Magnolia will grow well in a container too, but beware of over-watering as this will rot its roots.
You can also use Siebold's Magnolia as a small to medium-sized ornamental statement tree. It will reach a height of three metres and spread over the same distance.

How To Care for Magnolia Sieboldii
Because Magnolias have such attractive flowers many people think they are tricky to grow, but this is not the case. Siebold's Magnolia in particular is very easy to care for.
Heavy rain and strong winds will damage the blooms and foliage, but if you choose a sheltered spot it will happily thrive. Siebold's Magnolia prefers moist but well-drained soil and likes full sun to partially shady spots.
Oyama Magnolia will grow in most soils, preferring acid to neutral earth. If yours is very alkaline it’s simple to grow Oyama Magnolia in a container of ericaceous compost, or you can dig plenty of ericaceous compost and manure into the planting hole and top it up each year. Magnolias rarely need pruning. If yours has dead or diseased wood cut this out after flowering. Do not prune in springtime as this will remove the flower buds.

Other ornamental trees include Prunus Serrulata Multistem. Our large range of magnolias are for sale in London at our garden centre and also for sale online with nationwide delivery in the UK.
