Cyathea Medullaris - The Black Tree Fern

Cyathea Medullaris is commonly known as The Black Tree Fern.
Originally from New Zealand and known as Mamaku, this majestic tree fern has an elegant dark brown / black trunk with huge dramatic light green fronds.
It is a stunning variety of tree fern that is the tallest and fastest growing of the New Zealand varieties. We do not sell the Black Tree Fern as hardy but it can be overwintered outside in mild locations if properly protected and we can give advice on this.
Cyathea Medullaris is a very rare tree fern, as there is limited export allowed from New Zealand. The Black Tree Fern prefers to be kept moist and grown in shade or partial shade - this is a truly beautiful statement tree.
