RHS Perfect for pollinators logo
Hydrangea Paniculata is also known as the Panicle Hydrangea - this deciduous shrub displays incredibly showy conical or triangular shaped flowers at the ends of the branches. They are medium to large shrubs unless kept pruned and the flowers appear at the peak of Summer towards end of July / beginning of August and will last well into Autumn.
Growing Tip:
They are not as fussy about acidic soil as some of the Hydrangeas, the main thing is to have fertile soil that retains moisture - so it's good to add lots of mulch in Spring to avoid the soil drying out too much in the summer heat. They prefer a sheltered spot in semi-shade.
Pruning:
The ideal time to prune is in the Spring, prune back hard to keep their bushy shape.
