Ophiopogon Nigrescens - Lilyturf

Ophiopogon Nigrescens common name Lilyturf also referred to as Black Grass. A clump forming small grass with narrow curving almost black very dark purple leaves. Clusters of pale purplish pink flowers following by blue-black fruit in Summer months. Max height 20cm / Max spread 30cm. Full sun / partial shade. Frost hardy.

Used often to create an edge the small low growing black grass gives a contemporary simple look.

Other grasses include stipa gigantea which is again a low growing grass but has a giant stem with oat like delicate flowers at the end.
