Pistacia Lentiscus Pistachio

Pistacia Lentiscus - the Pistacio Shrub or small tree is evergreen.  It has pretty delicate looking leaves which change red in Autumn. Although it is evergreen in the UK the leaves may shrivel in extreme frosts but will leaf again.  

In hot summers the plant will have red flowers.

It is cultivated for is aromatic resin known as Mastic (deriving from word masticate "to chew").  

Native to the mediterranean and Canary islands.

Plant in a sheltered well-draining area.
