Quercus Ilex is more commonly known as the Holly Oak or the Holm Oak and is a native to the Mediterranean.
This evergreen oak tree has dark grey bark and glossy dark green leaves which are a silver grey colour when young. The trees can be planted closely together and form an excellent hedge - they work very well as a windbreak as the branches and leaves are very dense and it thrives in a coastal position.
The Holly Oak flowers between May and June and produces rounded acorns. Flowers May to June.
Holm Oak is smaller in size to our native oak varieties with a Max Height 10m. Max Spread 3m. Full sun/partial shade. Frost hardy
