Now is the time to get out there planting by Karen Mariconda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s strange at this time of year that many people ask when is the best time to plant <a title=\"Cedar Trees\" href=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/blog\/index.php\/cedar-trees\/\">trees and shrubs<\/a>. Probably a lot of this is due to confusion over the weather this year changing from hot to cold \/ drought to wet conditions. We have the wettest &#8220;drought&#8221; in living history!<!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_758\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/plant\/azalea\/azalea-japonica.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-758\" class=\"size-full wp-image-758\" title=\"azalea-japonica\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/azalea-japonica1.jpg\" alt=\"Azalea Japonica\" width=\"600\" height=\"719\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-758\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Our spring flowering Azalea Japonicas are now also available online<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Generally, there really is not a bad time to plant but as a rule of thumb, it&#8217;s never a good idea to plant when the ground is completely solid e.g. with harsh frost or snow. Other than that, there are no excuses not to get those trees and shrubs in the ground.<\/p>\n<p>I think most would agree that now is an excellent time for planting with the ground being so moist from the many downpours. The mild\/cold weather means minimum effort when planting trees and shrubs.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/plant\/betj\/betula-jacquemontii.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-760\" title=\"betula-utilis-jaquemontii\" src=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/betula-utilis-jaquemontii-4m.jpg\" alt=\"Betula Utilis Jaquemontii\" \/><\/a>\u00a0<strong><br \/>\nStructural plants<\/strong> are just coming out of dormancy (yes very late this year &#8211; we would say at least 3 weeks behind the norm due to cold weather in April\/May). As the plants come out of dormancy and are planted, they establish their roots in the ground and most <a title=\"Trees Online London UK\" href=\"https:\/\/www.paramountplants.co.uk\/trees.html\">trees and shrubs <\/a>will love these moist conditions &#8211; just make sure soil not too waterlogged.<\/p>\n<p>With these optimum conditions NOW is the time to stop procrastinating and get out in the garden, brave the weather and get those plants in the ground&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Follow\u00a0our tips for planting and maintaining plants: REMEMBER THESE IMPORTANT STEPS REGULARLY FEED, WEED, PRUNE AND WATER YOUR PLANTS AND BE CONSISTENT WITH MAINTENANCE.
