Dryopteris Wallichiana is commonly known as Mr Wallichs Fern or Wallich's Wood Fern is a native to Hawaii where it grows at altitude in tropical rain forests. It is a hardy semi-deciduous fern which has a handsome appearance, its bright green fronds have black stems with brown and black bristly hairs.
Also known as Laukahi by the ancient Hawaiians it was a plant whose leaves were used for medicinal purposes. Wallich's Wood Fern prefers a moist shaded site and will adapt to a wide range of soil types.
