Teucrium Trizeus is a low-growing evergreen perennial with pink summertime flowers. It suits the front of a sunny border or a plant container.

Teucrium Trizeus is better known as Germander Trizeus. It’s native to the Mediterranean where it grows in sunny rocky outcrops. It grows successfully in the UK too if it’s given a well-drained sunny spot. Germander Trizeus has creeping stems covered with fine hair that extends to the underside of its evergreen leaves. The foliage is silvery green creating a warm backdrop for its pink flowers. Pink flowers arrive in summer and last for months attracting lots of pollinators.

Height And Spread of Teucrium Trizeus
Germander Trizeus is a low-growing perennial shrub that will reach a maximum height of 60 cms and the same in spread.

How Hardy Is Teucrium Trizeus
Because Germander Trizeus has mountainous origins it tolerates drought and chalky well- drained soils. If the roots are well drained it can also deal with sub-zero temperatures.

How To Use Teucrium Trizeus
This is a great choice for the front of a mixed flower border or the edges of a well-watered container. Germander Trizeus brings plenty of summer long colour to rockeries, coastal areas, hot courtyards and sunny balconies.
It’s also beneficial in wildlife gardens as its creeping evergreen foliage provides cover and its long blooming flowers feed pollinators.

Low maintenance gardens can use low-growing creeping Germander Trizeus to cover bare soil and prevent erosion. Planted in a swathe it provides year-round protection and a flush of colour in the warm months.

How To Care For Teucrium Trizeus
Once established this germander needs little care. Be sure to plant it in well-drained soil and choose a sunny spot. Near a wall is ideal. It tolerates all well-drained soils but prefers alkaline to neutral conditions. There’s no need to prune Germander Trizeus but you can deadhead it to encourage flowering and trim it back in winter to maintain a neat size.
