Acer Palmatum is also known as the Japanese Maple and sometimes as the Japanese Smooth Maple tree. These Acers originate from lower altitudes throughout central and southern Japan, they originally grew under the larger trees in woodland.
Acer Palmatum prefers a moist, rich, well drained soil in partial shade and should be sheltered from winds to prevent leaf burn. It’s very important not to let Acers dry out during the hot summer months. They will produce magnificent leaf colours in the autumn, vibrant oranges and shades of red, creating spectacular shapes and sometimes decorative bark texture and colour.
