Amelanchier Lamarckii is an attractive deciduous ornamental small to medium sized tree.
Amelanchier Lamarckii can grow up to 5m height but is usually pruned to shape at around 2.5-3.5m height. Also known as June Berry or Snowy Mespilus this tree flowers in early Spring and grows naturally in a compact multi-stem habit. The flowers are white and have a delicate appearance covering the entire tree. Called Snowy Mespilus due to the profuse white flowers covering the tree like snow in April/May.
Autumn Colour in the Garden: The tree changes colour in autumn - the foliage becomes bronze orange and red before losing its leaves between November and February each year.
How To Grow: An easy to grow tree suitable for all areas including wet, heavy clay soils, full sun and exposed areas. Note: not suitable for chalky soils but will grow well in normal to acidic soil.
Other ornamental trees include Magnolia Sieboldii and Magnolia Stellata Rosea
Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society, a sure sign that it will perform well in most UK gardens.
