Camellia Japonica, more commonly known as camellia, is an evergreen flowering shrub with masses of colourful flowers over fine glossy foliage.
Camellias tend to flower in early spring. After flowering, it retains is role as a decorative evergreen shrub for the remainder of the year due to the luxuriant dark green foliage.
As well as making a striking stand-alone flowering shrub, Camellia Japonica can also be used as an evergreen screening hedge. View our Blog feature on Spring Flowering Shrubs.
Camellias prefer acidic well drained soil so you will need to use ericaceous compost.
