Azalea Golden Sunset (AGM)
Azalea Golden Sunset produces very attractive large, vivid yellow flowers tinged with red, around June. The flowers have a delicate scent and before opening, the flower buds are a rich deep orange.
Azalea Golden Sunset is another introduction from Exbury. Deciduous Azalea hybrids tend to be hardy plants and have the most vibrant flowers of all the azaleas. Within this genus, the Knaphill Exbury Azaleas tend to be later flowering (May) June, produce masses of fragrant flowers and are known as the showiest of the deciduous azalea hybrids.
Famous for their ease of growth, azaleas are however particular about the soil you plant them in. It should be light and airy with plenty of organic matter and should be acidic. You can raise the acidity of your soil by introducing acidic peat-based compost, mixing well into your existing soil. A general top dressing of this also helps every year.
Deciduous azaleas are perfect plants for mass planting. Azaleas also make good accent plants and are very easy to grow in a pot or container on your patio, terrace or roof.
