Camellia Sasanqua Cleopatra Pink
Camellia Sasanqua Cleopatra is an autumn and winter flowering and very fragrant, evergreen shrub. This variety, produces a profusion of glorious pale pink flowers that cover the entire shrub. Available as a bushy shrub or shaped as a tree with a clear stem these create a wonderful display in the garden at a time of the year when it is needed most. Camellia Sasanqua Cleopatra is a very free-flowering sasanqua. It produces 7 cm semi-double flowers with an irregular shape, generally having five rose-pink petals and two smaller ones. Its growth habit is companct and bushy.
Camellias were extremely popular in the Victorian era. The Camellia is still one of the most popular shrubs today for their amazing mass of blossoms and great beauty. The Camellia Sasanqua species of camellia tend to form a large shrub or small tree. Sasanqua have dense evergreen foliage and tend to flower in autumn and winter as opposed to spring.
Camellia Sasanqua's have glossy dark green foliage which is happily pruned so they can be kept beautifully shaped as a shrub or standard tree.Care must be taken not to remove the flower buds when trimming. Camellias like well-drained soil preferably acidic. They can be easily cultivated in planters as they grow fairly slowly and can then be planted with ericaceous soil and fed regularly with Camellia feed.
We also stock many other winter flowering Camellia Sasanqua varieties, including Camellia Sasanqua Kanjiro and Camellia Yuletide and Camellia Sasanqua Cleopatra White, which is actually a white sport of Camellia Sasanqua Cleopatra.
