Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee is a small deciduous shrub also known as bush honeysuckle. It has golden leaves and sweet flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators. It’s a welcome addition to a wildlife-friendly mixed border.

Diervilla Rivularis is native to the Eastern United States, but the cultivar Honeybee was recently bred in the Netherlands. It has bright showy golden foliage that emerges in spring and retains its rich colour until falling in autumn. In early summer Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee produces clusters of yellow open flowers that are attractive to beneficial pollinators.

This is a low maintenance showy shrub that brightens a border and encourages wildlife to your garden.

Height and Spread of Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee
Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee is a low growing shrub that will reach an eventual maximum height and spread of a metre.

How Hardy Is Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee
This is a tough shrub that tolerates harsh freezing winters and summer drought once established. Ensure the roots are well drained and this shrub can be left to its own devices year-round.

How To Use Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee
A great choice for low maintenance gardens Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee brings plenty of spring and summer colour to a mixed border. In wildlife gardens a single plant will attract plenty of pollinators, but a swathe will hum with bees during summer.

It’s also a good choice for low maintenance front gardens and empty spaces with poor soils such as dry shade - although do water well until established.

You can grow Bush Honeysuckle in a large well-watered and fed plant container to brighten a dull deck or patio too.

How To Care For Diervilla Rivularis Honeybee
This new cultivar enjoys a sunny to partially shady spot and will retain its golden colour in shadier aspects. It is not fussy about soil conditions or pH if the roots are well drained. It will grow in less than average soils.

Prune down to a low framework in spring and apply a thick layer of mulch for the growing season. This will ensure the strongest colour and plentiful flowers.
