Holly Trees are extremely hardy evergreen trees capable of coping well in extreme cold and windy areas. These trees are useful for screening as the head will block out views above the fence-line (they have a clear stem of around 1.8m height).
Hollies also known as Ilex are a very attractive ornamental with berries in the winter months. Fairly slow growing they can be planted near to the house provided they are kept maintained and pruned every few years.
Other evergreen trees useful for screening include Photinia Red Robin, Prunus Lusitanica, Quercus Ilex and Bays.
This Holly Tree is excellent as produces red berries without the need for a male/female partner.
