Prunus Laurocerasus Tree or Cherry Laurel Tree. This is a full Standard Tree shape of Cherry Laurel with a clear stem and bushy head. This is the perfect tree shape for instant screening above a wall or fence. The leathery bright green leaves of Prunus Laurocerasus provide an instant hedging screen. These trees lend themselves very well to being pruned and kept in shape. The foliage can be clipped or lightly pruned in late spring or early summer.
The glossy, green foliage of this evergreen tree forms a dense crown and offers year-round interest. In the spring, Prunus Laurocerasus Tree produces clusters of petite, white blossoms borne in erect racemes. The dainty flowers are followed by cherry-like, red fruit that ripens to black soon after appearing.
Cherry Laurel grows at a rate of roughly 30cm per year, and can reach a height and spread of 6-8m in its lifetime.
Easy to grow and to care for, Cherry Laurel Tree tolerates both full sun and partial shade. This highly decorative tree will thrive in any moist, well-drained soil.
Native to Eastern Europe and Southwestern Asia, Prunus Laurocerasus can withstand even severe winters. Fully hardy in Britain and Ireland, Prunus Laurocerasus Tree won’t be bothered by frost or need shelter from biting winds.
