Also known as Thuja Occidentalis Smaragd this is an attractive Conifer, a cedar variety which has dense dark green foliage which is easily trimmed. These trained full standard trees have nice tall clear stems which makes them fabulous to use for evergreen above fence screening. Also known as stilted hedging these trees take up little lateral space yet provide much needed privacy above a fence or wall. Thuja Smaragd has a lovely citrus fragrance when you trim the foliage and they are easily kept in shape with a quick tidy once or twice a year. These cedars grow best in full sun in moist well drained soil, once established Thuya's will tolerate drought conditions, a good mulch will keep them moist until they get settled in.
