Thuja Plicata or Western Red Cedar is native to North America.
This is a tall attractive, very dense and busy evergreen conifer with cinnamon-red bark and aromatic bright green leaves that smell like pineapple.
This is a most valuable tree for evergreen hedging and evergreen screening. Although slower growing than Leylandii, Thuja Plicata is still a fast growing tree which can quickly screen out any unwanted sights but can be more easily controlled than Leylandii.
Western Red Cedar is hardy. It has spreading branches and prefers a sunny or partial shady position. It grows well in any soil conditions.
Thuja attracts birds and other wildlife due to its thick dense bushy foliage.
We now stock a full size range of Thuja Plicata 'Martin' rootball plants - fabulous for evergreen screening.
