Belonging to the Dissectum group of Japanese Maples, the new spring growth of the Ornatum cultivar is an unusual light bronze red in colour, a tone that stands out really well in the landscape. As summer progresses, the foliage becomes bronze with green hues. In autumn, it turns a striking crimson red. Also known as Acer Dissectum Atropurpureum, its full Latin name is Acer Palmatum Dissectum Ornatum. These are low-growing and slow growing Japanese Maples that will reach a maximum size of 3 metres only after a long period of time and naturally assume a beautiful compact mounded shape.
