Acer Palmatum ' Bloodgood' is a deciduous Japanese Maple tree. Bloodgood is a popular choice for residential gardens because of its size, it has a maximum height of 5 metres and and maximum spread of 5 metres. The tree has deeply cut dark red / purple leaves which remain red for most of the summer, turning bright red in the autumn.
It develops on multiple branches which gives a strong sculptural element to the shape of the tree - it can look lovely when used for night time illumination of the garden.
Acer Palmatum Bloodgood is hardy but prefers partial shade and will give the best foliage colour when grown in dappled shade. Back-fill with soil mixed with peat substitute and a suitable fertiliser.
We also have a selection of very mature specimen trees of Acer Bloodgood showcased on our new Unique Acer trees section - this page features the exact tree you will buy so you can choose the best tree for your location, many of the featured Acer trees are up to 35 years old.
