Azalea Stewartstonian

Azalea Stewartstonian is a profusely flowering, slow-growing evergreen azalea with masses of lush red flowers in late spring that last for weeks. It has small broad leaves that change colour with the seasons, further adding to the attraction of this plant. The new foliage is burgundy in spring, medium green in summer before turning a stunning red in autumn and in winter.

The Azalea Stewartstonian has a natural dome shape. It is a hybrid variety, named after Stewartstown in Pennsylvania, where Joe Gable developed hybrid azaleas for prolific flowering and hardiness. As it matures into a medium size bush, and is in full flower, Azalea Stewartstonian can create a virtual wall of red.

As with all Azaleas, Stewartstonian prefers moist, well-draining, acidic soil and will do well in a sunny or a semi shady spot.

Azalea Stewartstonian should be slightly trimmed after flowering to keep its bushy shape.

This variety of Azalea Stewartstonian are grown in the containers and have been trimmed regularly to ensure a nice, bushy and compact shape and should be profuse flowerers.
