Cercis Canadensis is commonly known as Forest Pansy this is a decidous shrub grown mainly for the stunning foliage which is deep purple and heart shaped. The leaves of the forest pansy deepen in colour as the autumn approaches with hints of the deepest reds and magentas. Will grow well in a sunny warm spot and easily grow to 4-5m height in 10 years.
The flowers are usually borne on the tree before the foliage starts and the displays become much more intense with time. Grows well in rich well draining soil with plenty of organic matter.
