Magnolia Daphne or Yellow Flowering Magnolia
With a spring burst of gorgeous tulip-shaped, pale yellow blossoms, Magnolia Daphne leaves no one indifferent. Before the deciduous, mid-green foliage unfurls, a profusion of flowers graces the bare branches until the leaves appear to provide a perfect backdrop. A small and upright Magnolia cultivar, this variety was selected by a Belgian breeder, as a cross of two popular Magnolia varieties, Miss Honeybee and Gold Crown. The resulting new hybrid boasts long-lasting tulip-shaped flowers and a compact habit that makes it suitable for small gardens.

While yellow flowering Magnolias are less common than the pink and white flowering varieties, we do stock 4 more varieties of yellow-flowering magnolia, each with blossoms in the varying shades: Magnolia X Brooklynensis Yellow Bird, Magnolia Denudata Yellow River, Magnolia Solar Flair, and Magnolia Sunsation.

Height and Spread of Magnolia Daphne
The expected ultimate size of this yellow flowering Magnolia is 1.5 to 3 metres in height, with a spread of 1 to 2 metres.

How Hardy is Magnolia Daphne
Magnolia Daphne is fully hardy in all of the United Kingdom and can survive even when the temperatures drop to 20 degrees below zero.

How To Use Magnolia Daphne
This rare yellow flowering Magnolia is an excellent choice for a specimen tree in a small garden, as its gorgeous spring blooms will make a focus of interest in any landscape. Pair it with summer-flowering shrubs in beds and borders for a full spring and summer season of stunning blossoms in your garden. Just make sure that your choice of location for Magnolia Daphne is final before you put it in the soil- this tree thoroughly dislikes transplanting.

How To Care For Magnolia Daphne
Easy to grow and care for, Magnolia Daphne is an undemanding deciduous tree. It will do well in moist, well-drained soil with neutral to acidic pH value. This yellow flowering Magnolia tree will thrive in partial shade to full sun. While fully hardy, this deciduous tree still appreciates a sheltered spot in the garden, away from harsh, biting winds.
