Osmanthus Heterophyllus is commonly known as False Holly or Gulftide.
It is a dense, rounded shrub with holly-like, glossy, dark green leaves and clusters of fragrant tubular white flowers. This is an evergreen plant and it is actually related tothe Olive family Oleaceae which explains why it is sometimes known as the Holly Olive. Osmanthus Heterophyllus originates from Eastern Asia, from Central and Southern Japan and Taiwan.
Osmanthus Heterophyllus reaches a maximum height of 3 metres and a maximum spread of about the same (3 metres). It flowers from September to October and bears fruits in November.
In terms of aspect, you can plant Osmanthis in full sun or partial shade. These plants are frost hardy.
Due to its dense growth habit and attractive evergreen folaige, Osmanthus Heterophyllus is a most attractive hedging plant.
