Rhododendron Markeeta’s Prize (AGM)

Rhododendron Markeeta’s Prize is possibly one of the best performing hybrids of the larger, May-flowering reds. Originating in North America, this wonderful Rhododendron will produce an abundance of bloom in late spring with trusses or clusters of bright scarlet red flowers with darker red spots. Each cluster has around 12 blooms.

Rhododendron Markeeta’s Prize is an attractive, upright grower with thick, dark green foliage that provides a contrasting backdrop to the scarlet-red flowers.

In recognition of its commendable characteristics, Rhododendron Markeeta’s Prize has received the Award of Garden Merit (AGM) from the RHS.

Rhododendron Markeeta’s Prize can reach a maximum height and spread of up to 2.5 metres. It likes to be planted in a position with partial shade. If planted in full sun, the flowers will fade to a lighter colour.

Once planted, its best to regularly apply a good mulch, which keeps the soil rich in nutrients, and to feed with a good ericaceous fertisizer.
