Azalea Daviesii (AGM)

Azalea Daviesii is a finely scented, deciduous azalea hybrid. The flower buds are a lovely pink at first, then opening into a pure white tubular flower with a yellow centre. Azalea Daviesii has a nice compact, low growing habit reaching about 1.5 metres high over 10 years.

Azalea Daviesii is a hybrid from the Ghent genus. The Ghent azalea hybrids are winter hardy plants and are the oldest of the deciduous azalea hybrid groups, with hybridisation originating around 200 years ago.

Deciduous azaleas, as distinct from their better known evergreen azalea cousins, are widely recognised as showy flowering shrubs, great for planting in groups en masse particularly to achieve a woodland effect or as standalone accent plants. They are great plants for pots and containers as well.

Azaleas like free draining soil and rich light acidic soil. If you want to make your soil more acidic, you can add ericaceous compost and mix well with your soil.
