Buxus Square Cubes
Buxus Sempervirens is also known as Box or Boxwood and has long been a top choice for topiary and for low growing clipped hedging – since Roman times, in fact. These very attractive Boxwood Topiary Squares are the latest addition to our ever-growing topiary range.
Boxwood topiary squares or cubes are best kept low and tightly clipped but they can also grow to be quite tall if you wish. Use Boxwood Topiary Squares as the basis for a parterre or formal hedge or to create a topiary focal point in your garden. You can combine several Boxwood Topiary Squares to create geometric shapes. If you have a balcony or terrace, a pair of Buxus Square Cubes will look most attractive in terracotta pots.
Boxwood has many characteristics which make it highly suited to topiary. It is evergreen, very dense-growing and can be clipped without it adversely affecting the plant. Box is slow growing so that gardeners can get away with clipping once per year. Buxus Sempervirens has very attractive deep rich green foliage with the small leaves densely packed. The new foliage emerges in summer in a lighter, softer green.
In addition, Boxwood is very hardy, happily withstanding an impressive range of extreme climate conditions. It is easily grown and thrives in full sun or partial shade.
