Quite a spectacular-coloured flower in complex shades, this is a glamorous Rhododendron hybrid, sometimes referred to as Hachmann’s Kabarett, in acknowledgement of its hybrid origins at the hands of Hans Hachmann’s, Germany’s renowned Rhododendron breeder.
Rhododendron Kabarett is a wonderful, dense compact evergreen Rhododendron with dark green glossy foliage and lilac flowers with a deep a red flash in the centre. Rhododendron Kabarett flowers profusely in May and early June. The flowers are large, elaborately curled at the edges with ruffled petals. With its exotic aura, this Rhododendron really does justice to its genus name - the word Rhododendron means Rose Tree ('Rhodo' as in Rose and 'Dendron' as in tree).
A small variety, Rhododendron Kabarett will reach a maximum height and spread over 10 years of 1.4 to 1.6 metres making it idea for limited spaces and for smaller urban gardens.
Rhododendron Kabarett likes partial shade and acidic soil. It has a good level of winter hardiness.
