Taxus Baccata Washingtonii Bonsai. Japanese Niwaki Style
This Taxus Baccata Washingtonii is a mature yew tree that has been sculpted over time in the Niwaki style (Japanese style garden tree). Niwaki is the Japanese art of pruning trees into elegant clouds or pom pom shapes. Japanese style topiary trees or niwaki are an excellent idea for western gardens. They can be artfully positioned to divert the eye from a boring patch of the garden. The evergreen specimens which we at Paramount Plants specialise in, are great structural plants adding wonderful shapes in the winter garden.
Grow this Taxus Baccata Niwaki (or garden bonsai) in a pot or in the ground. If growing in the ground it requires the same conditions as a normal taxus baccata tree. In other words, well draining soil and as light and airy as possible. If you live on heavy clay, then incorporate lots of organic compost in to your soil. It also is a good idea to top dress your soil with a good oragnic mixed mulch.
