Rhododendron Surrey Heath is a compact, dome shaped evergreen Rhododendron hybrid with deep green, large, narrow foliage. Surrey Heath produces a fantastic display of blooms in late spring early summer with its deep red buds turning to rose pink flowers and then fading to a creamy colour afterwards, giving a two tone effect.
Rhododendron Surrey Heath is ideal for planting in mixed borders and is an excellent choice for small gardens as it is very slow growing (1 metre height and spread over 10 years). This Rhododendron does well in pots or containers for patios and terraces.
It likes full sun or partial shade and ericaceous soil. Apply a mix and mulch regularly to keep the soil nice and moist and feed with an ericaceous feed to prevent foliage from going yellow.
Rhododendron Surrey Heath is a Yak Hybrid (originating from the Japanese Rhododendron Yakushimanum). These hybrids have rounded full trusses and are quite free flowering. They form nice, dome-shaped plants and are slow growing.
