Hydrangea Macrophylla Hopcorn Blue - also known as 'Mophead Hydrangeas, the Macrophylla are really the best known of all the Hydrangea varieties. Hydrangea Macrophylla Hopcorn Blue forms a lovely dome shaped shrub that will put on a fabulous display of globe shaped blooms. These stunning flowering shrubs are covered in magnificent blooms every June and they will often continue flowering right into the summer.
Hydrangea Macrophylla Hopcorn Blue are deciduous shrubs of a medium size which were originally native to Japan and China. They are very easy to grow, preferring neutral to acidic soil. Do keep them nice and moist and water regularly in very hot, dry spells of weather. To encourage prolific blooming prune in early spring. The new blooms will emerge on last year's growth. Prune each previous years flowerhead down to the first pair of buds.
We have a great range of colours of these Mophead Hydrangeas, ranging from the deepest blue through vibrant pinks and elegant white varieties. Hydrangeas look stunning as cut flowers, just two or three stems in a vase with some sparse foliage will look very elegant.
