Rosa Moonlight or Moonlight Rose Rosa Moonlight was one of the first Hybrid Musks introduced by Joseph Pemberton in 1913. This classic white-flowering beauty is still as popular as it was a century ago. Hardly surprising considering its prolific blossoms and ornamental autumn hips. Moonlight Rose certainly offers plenty of interest throughout the year. Similar to other Hybrid Musks, this deciduous rose shrub also features blossoms borne in sprays, with a moderate repeat bloom during its growing season. The medium-sized, semi-double creamy white flowers unfold on well-foliated stems with gold stamens to contrast the pale petals. The blossoms are fragranced and will spread the distinct true musk rose perfume throughout your garden.
Moonlight Rose naturally grows as a cascading shrub with lush dark green foliage, but it can be trained as a climber, as well.
Height and Spread of Rosa Moonlight Moonlight Rose is a compact cultivar that can be grown in pots with great success. The expected size for this rose variety is up to 2.5 metres in height with a spread of 1 metre.
How Hardy is Rosa Moonlight While it does prefer warm climates and will require some protection in severe winters, Moonlight Rose is hardy in the United Kingdom.
How To Use Rosa Moonlight This versatile white flowering rose will be the jewel of your garden if you let it. Use it to frame a window and enjoy the whiffs of that luxurious musk perfume even inside your home or grow against a sun-facing wall or trellis for a beautiful display of Moonlight Rose’s masses of creamy white blossoms. Of course, you can always grow this variety of hybrid musk rose against a structure such as arbours, arches, pergolas, gazebos… It can also be grown as a pillar rose! Rosa Moonlight grows vigorously and repeats its bloom so it is ideal for this purpose. It will cover the structure in no time and offer prolonged interest with its long-flowering season.
How To Care For Rosa Moonlight This wildlife-friendly climbing rose does not need much fussing over to thrive. Moonlight Rose does best when grown in full sun and in moist but well-drained soil.
