Ceanothus Cynthia Postan is an evergreen shrub with dark glossy green leaves and a mass of nectar-rich blue flowers in spring and summer. It’s an excellent climber and a low-maintenance choice for pollinator-friendly borders.

Ceanothus are native to North America and are often called Californian Lilac. While there are many Ceanothus varieties Cynthia Postan is popular for its mid-height and sea of rich blue flowers in late spring through to early summer. Its flowers are clusters of many tiny blooms that appear on branch tips and smother the shrub in an ocean of colour.

Throughout the year Californian Lilac retains its small glossy green leaves, growing new lighter shades of foliage in early spring that quickly deepen to match established foliage.

This is a superb pollinator shrub and a drought-hardy plant that can be trained as a climber against a fence panel or left to form a dense rounded standard shrub.
