Nandina Domestica Sunset Boulevard Manon is a compact multi-coloured evergreen shrub. It is low-growing and suits flower beds, pots and low or parterre hedging.
Nandina Domestica is native to eastern Asia from Japan to the Himalayas and was introduced to Britain in 1804. Although it is more commonly known as Heavenly Bamboo, it’s not a bamboo, but a flowering shrub.
The Sunset Boulevard Manon cultivar is an ornamental evergreen with bright showy foliage throughout the year. In spring, new foliage emerges in orange before maturing to green and then red in autumn. Because it’s an evergreen shrub that holds onto its previous growth the plant has an array of different colours in the summer months. Small white flowers appear in summer which mature into red berries in late summer and autumn.
